Startup Projects Background

Overview

My idea is bring self-service drinking bars to the mid-west.  New technology allows you to enter the bar, start a tab with your card, get a computerized bracelet, pour your own drinks from the tap for which you will be charged by the ounce.  They idea has started strictly as beer bars.  I would like to take it to the next level to include wine and mixed drinks as well.

I would need lots of money, very expensive start-up.

It would be a unique experience not yet offered here in Eau Claire, WI.  You would not have to wait for service anymore.  You could taste test different drinks, without buying a whole glass and risking wasting it if you don’t like it.

I have been a bartender/server for the last 6 years.  I love the restaurant business, but I feel there is a need for something new and exciting.  This would be my first business venture and I am wondering if you think this is something people would be interested in going to?

So has this been done yet? has it been a success? Sorry maybe I am just being very slow. Personally for something like this I would look at raising the money on http://www.kickstarter.com You Maybe couldn’t raise it all there but aim for like 50,000 and then look at potential business angels. It sounds good although you would need to replace bar staff with security lol

Are you looking for funding or just an experienced business partner to show you the ropes? The idea is ok, a lot of businesses in the service industry are moving towards giving the customer power and as a result hiring less staff, this was started by Tesco when they introduced self service check outs. So in a few years this may be the norm, so what’s the harm in giving it a go. why not just go to a bank?
