Charming living room and dining room together home idea
Whether you own a house with a large room or an apartment with a living room and shared dining room, it can be challenging to decorate the living room with a dining area so that the two areas remain separate but complementary.
Where to start? Do you start in the dining room and let it define the shape of the two spaces? Or do you start in the living room? Should they be the same color? Should they have the same furniture styles? What about fabrics and textures?
There seem to be more questions than answers, and that’s for sure. But it is not difficult to work with these two areas, if you take the time to decide exactly what is important to you, and to make some basic decisions for the design that will determine the tone and trends of your decorative plans.
The first thing to keep in mind is how the two rooms flow together. In other words, do not want to look different, but complement them. So patterns and colors must work together. They should not be the same mind they only need to create a wonderful visual balance.
Perhaps more important is the color scheme of the two rooms. Since they share common walls usually, you should choose a wall color that works with both rooms. If you have the luxury of buying new furniture, you can choose a basic color for the second and third sofa fabric. You can then use these secondary colors for casual chairs in the living room and chairs in the dining room.
This allows the two rooms to merge in keeping with their own personality.
With walls, you can use a main color on the walls that run smoothly from one room to another and then add a second tone to a shorter wall, such as a wall in the dining room. Just make sure that these colors work with the fabrics you have chosen. Do not want to ask guests when the circus comes to town. Remember, it is important to maintain a visual flow between the two rooms, not create two separate rooms. If you want to do this, build a wall instead.
The same principle works on all your accessorizing as well. For example, all Windows processors must match. If you use one kind of curtains in the living room, you should also use them in the dining room.
Although the two rooms must be linked to each other, they should not be identical. For example, you can go with a nice modern sofa set in the living room and attach it to an ebony dining room table in the dining area. However, you do not want to put a heavy oak dining table in the dining area and try to force it to live in harmony with the black and chrome entertainment center that can be seen in the living room. There is a fine line between eclectic and flashy.
To further define areas, use different lighting. You can go with a nice chandelier above the dining area, then choose lamps for the living room that pick up the essential elements of its design. If the chandelier has a soft surface of chrome, you can add floor lamps and other chrome finishes in the living room, even if the main color is different. Just make sure the bulbs are useful as well as elegant. Good lighting is necessary to create dining areas and living rooms that work well.
When you look at ways to decorate your living room with an enclosed dining area, resist the temptation to think of the two areas as visually different, although they serve very different purposes. You’ll find your decor project a more enjoyable experience if you do it.
